Fourth Generation War Comes To America: What Are You Going To Do About It?

Orlando is not the first mass shooting by a so called ‘Lone Wolf’ Islamic Jihadist in America; it’s the seventh in recent years but this one is different. The knee jerk reaction from the political left and their media enablers has (unbelievably) gained traction in the establishment media. The Orlando massacre has nothing to do with guns; decreasing the civil liberties of law abiding Americans is not the answer. A majority of the American public knows this and are dismissing the governing elites attempts to spin this attack for political advantage out of hand. The problem is Islamic Jihadists and the fact that they are embedded inside our society and are going to, with ever increasing frequency, attack the citizens around them in the name of Allah. It’s what they do.

I find myself in a unique position, given my background, training and experiences, to write about an appropriate response to the Icehole (the FRI name for ISIS) violence. I’m a retired Marine infantryman who taught at a professional firearms training academy for several years. I also spent over 8 years in Afghanistan; most of that time I was in the contested provinces and all of that time I lived outside the wire embedded inside the local community. I carried a sidearm (and often a rifle) daily and when in the south I was never without fragmentation grenades in both my vest pockets. I have spent decades studying the literature associated with gun fights and gun fighters. I met Dave Grossman before he published On Killing and used his unpublished manuscript when we remodeled the USMC Infantry Officer Course close combat package. I had the honor of meeting and listening to Col. Boyd before he passed. For those of you who do not recognize these names read on – they are the core of the Sheepdog phenomenon and Sheepdogs are about to step onto the historical stage and light the way for freedom loving peoples to follow.

That the target was a gay night club is irrelevant. Homosexuality and Islam have a strange relationship due to the many peculiar customs routine among unmarried young adult males that in the west would consider homosexual. That’s old news. My speculation is that the nature of the target aided the Icehole shooter by de-humanizing his targets through the interpretation of the targeted group contained in the Koran. He could have targeted a stripper bar or any kind of bar for the same reason.

This observation enrages the gay rights crowd who insist this attack was an attack on gays specifically and thus a hate crime first and a Jihadist crime second. I am not sure what difference it makes to view the attack this way; as far as I’m concern this was an attack on the foundations this country was founded on and thus an attack on all of us; not just gays. But I have family and friends who find this view reprehensible and I don’t know what to say about that except I love my family and friends and am trying to show them a way forward that is not predicated on fear. Islam-and-Gays-copy

It is clear that our federal and local law enforcement agencies are not capable of protecting us from the Islamic Jihadi threat. Look at the latest Icehole Shooter; interviewed by the FBI twice, a gun store owner refused to sell him weapons or body armor and reported him to the FBI as a potential Jihadi terrorist, the store that did sell him the guns also called the FBI after doing so because they thought him a potential threat. The Orlando police department waited three hours to take him down and how many people bled out and died due to the delay is unknown but (given the circumstances) had to be a considerable. There was even an off duty cop outside the club who traded shots with the Icehole but then fell out of the media narrative. Where did he go? Why didn’t he follow the Icehole in and try to take him out? I’ don’t know but I also cannot think too many valid reasons for the lack of follow up.

People who chose a career in law enforcement tend to focus on the skills needed for professional development. If they are not part of a tactical team proficiency with firearms are not a requirement. The ability to pass annual qualification is all that is needed for advancement. Qualification and training are two different things but a vast majority of police officers will never use their service sidearm so it is hard to justify four or five day tactical training courses. Paying for the manpower hours, range time and ammunition is beyond the capabilities of most law enforcement agencies. There are plenty of police officers who train regularly on their own time and have excellent gun handling and combat marksmanship skills. One of them was pulling security at a recent Pam Geller event in Garland, Texas. How stopped two Jihadi’s, armed with rifles and wearing body armor, with head shots from his Glock .45 service pistol. That officer demonstrated tier one operator levels of performance in combat marksmenship and tactical decision making. There are many like him but most police in most places cannot be expected to perform at that level.

Obama and the sycophants he has installed at the helm of the American government are still importing tens of thousands of un-assimilateable, hostile Muslims (not our former interpreters who we promised could come here) into our country and setting them up with our tax money. Why?

Mistaking the government for a competent entity that cares about the average American citizen is insane. We’re on our own when it comes to Islamic terrorists folks and my question is what are you going to do about it?

For a vast majority the best thing to do is nothing. The chances of being caught up in one of these attacks are remote. You can live your life without changing daily routines or habits because you will never be caught up in a terrorist attack. This is the “hope” plan as in “I hope it doesn’t happen to me” and given the laws of averages it will prove a solid plan for the vast majority currently residing in the United States.

Those who do nothing about the threat of Jihadi’s are sheep; they cannot or will not accept responsibility for their personal safety or the safety of those around them. The law of averages, not The Law  is their only protection. But the law of averages is moot if you are in the cross-hairs and there are thousands of Americans alive today who will be killed by Jihadis in the future because our government has neither the will or ability to stop them.

For law abiding Americans who believe hope is not an adequate plan there is another option and that is to become a sheepdog. Human Sheepdogs are, by nature, not a threat to their fellow citizens but are death dealing fighting machines when they, their loved ones or the sheep  (other citizens) are in peril. To be effective in this role the sheepdog needs to be prepared mentally, physically and emotionally for close quarters battle (CQB). Death lurks in the CQB environment; the only way to beat death is to kill without hesitation or remorse. That is not easy to do.

Don’t think you’re up for that? Think again,  if a woman can fight off a mountain lion with her bare hands or a retiree with poor gun handling skills can run off two strongarm robbers (who both had guns) out of an internet cafe then you can take on a Icehole Jihadi. The other option is to submit and die.

If you are a christian who believes your religion forbids the taking of human life I urge you to read this post at the Captain Journal. Herschel Smith can sort you out in a heart beat. He is also the most prolific (and best) blogger in the country on Sheepdog related issues.

Sheepdog Mental Conditioning

Perspective sheepdogs should start their professional development with the man who came up with the Sheepdog concept; LTC Dave Grossman, USA (Ret) and his book On Killing. Understanding the psychological basis for overcoming man’s instinctive reluctance to taking a human life is critical to developing the mind set required to fight and survive in a close quarter gun battle. One of the most important lessons to internalize from Col Grossman is his intra vs extra species conflict model. Many of you are familiar with the “fight or flight” model which is a good conflict model for exta-species encounters. When confronted by a Rattlesnake your options are to kill it or leave it alone and leave the area. When confronted with a human threat the fight or flight model expands to include posture and submission. Most of the fights you have witnessed in your life involved tedious verbal and physical posturing before the adversaries came to blows. Many victims of violent crime submitted when confronted by the criminal. Understanding how violent encounters escalate as well as the normal human responses to violence is imperative because the Sheepdog has to learn to bypass them to be effective.

Another essential book is The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker. Dave Grossman speaks at the Gavin DeBecker and Associates  Mosaic Threat Assessment seminars and I was scheduled to go to one years ago but it was cancelled due to wildfires at the venue in Big Bear. I remain disappointed to this day. The Gift of Fear is a textbook on how to spot human predatory behavior. This understanding hones the senses by providing a framework that assists in anomaly detection. Detecting anomalies within the daily pattern of life is the quickest way to identify a potential threat. You do not need a laundry list of things to look for you just need to pay attention to every anomaly that catches your eye. Behaviors like loitering, angry hostile stares, excessive headgear in warm weather, sunglasses at night etc… could mean something or could mean nothing.

We have been told by the media, educators, politicians and other members of the ruling class that violent acts are unpredictable. That is absolutely not true and DeBecker’s book will teach you why. Remember our most recent Icehole shooter was throwing off such obvious, hostile vibes that two gun stores reported him to the FBI. How do you think that Icehole was looking before he unmasked inside the Pulse nightclub …what kind of vibes was he throwing off?  DeBecker will teach you what is already ingrained inside your brain housing group and that’s how to spot predators. More importantly he’ll eliminate the most common response to the sudden appearance of dangerous anomalies which is denial.

The last topic to read up on is the OODA loop. There is much written by and about Col John Boyd, USAF (Ret) so a link to a compendium of his writings is here. OODA is the acronym for Observe Orient Decide Act and it’s importance to a gunfighter cannot be overstated. Once you enter the fray you function on mental and physical conditioning; there is minimal cognition occurring as you adjust to the noise suppressing, vision narrowing, fine motor skill degrading rush of adrenaline. It is tough to handle which is why high end firearms instruction includes breathing exercises that are designed to bleed off adrenaline and keep the pulse below 150. The time to think is while observing and the sooner you orient onto a target the more time you have to prepare for the upcoming fight. Once the flag drops there is no time for thinking…only action counts.

The next post will cover the mechanics of gun-fighting in the close quarter environment but there is one more component of the combat mindset that needs to be internalized and its not good news. If you are in the midst of a Jihadi attack and present a gun to fight back you’re going to get shot. There is no way around it; you have to understand up front you will be hit so that when you are hit you stay in the fight. Being shot is not the same as being killed and most people who are shot in America do not die.

Of course it is possible to intervene in a shooting and come out of the encounter without a scratch but you can’t think that is going to happen before you fight.  You have to understand you’re going to get hit and might well die and then you have to ignore that and fight like a demon possessed. Going through the crucible and emerging without a scratch means you’re lucky, or blessed or cursed….as some of my fellow vets know being the one guy to walk away from a gunfight without a scratch can be a curse as well as a blessing….but I digress.

People who have been hit hard will bleed out if they are left in a pool of their own blood for three hours before the cops feel its safe enough for them to go in and get them. For the people who were shot at the Pulse it was their bad luck to be attacked in a city with a substandard, risk adverse, tactical unit.

The Sheepdog deals with reality not the narrative  and the reality is he is on his own when confronting Iceholes (or common criminals dubbed ‘teens’ by the establishment media). So my perspective sheepdog friends remember the essential truth for sheepdogs. If caught up in an Icehole attack  you are on your own. There is no one coming to help you; you have to deal with the threat and rescue the injured because that’s what sheepdogs do. Sheepdogs are humans who are not perfect, we are tolerant of the normal faults and foibles of our fellow man with one exception: we cannot stand and will not associate with cowards.

      Nice to see you back!

Thank you for such an informative and well written article. Outstanding!

Keep educating our fellow Americans. Your voice and many others are needed. Learning the truth does not “feel good.”

In Florida, if a business derives 50%+ of their revenue from alcohol, you can’t carry there, even if you have a permit. In some states you can, if you don’t drink. I wish we here in Florida were the latter, so there might have been at least one sheepdog at Pulse that night.

    • joe

This guy claimed association with three Islamic groups that all hate each other (Hezbollah, Al Nusrah, and DAESH). Based on all those close to him, the whole radical jihadist crap was just to get more attention and help justify his real motive, which was to kill a lot of gays because he was mentally unstable and most likely a bit light in the loafers.

This is NOT 4th generation warfare. We MAY see it, but so far we’ve just had nuts who get into a tight spot, and lash out (from FT HOOD to BOSTON). So far, the US does a pretty good job of incorporating immigrants into the community (unlike in Europe). Again, we MAY see a cell of semi-trained shooters do a Paris/Mumbai-style attack, but so far it’s been amateur night in the US.
I think there’s more to the story to explain how a guy could rack up 103 casualties having owned the carbine less than a week; I’m not implying a conspiracy, but I think there had to have been a choke point (like with the “Great White” concert fire) or perhaps 15-25 were hit with friendly fire or something.
We’ll get the whole story eventually, but as I see it, it’s too soon to speculate on very much–much less write a full essay on it.

In 2013 I attended a two day statewide LE “active shooter” training put on by the CHP on a grant from DHS. In essence, the instructors drilled us on: first responders get in the building and take out the bad guy as fast as possible. After completion of the course, if you were an early arrival, they expected you to take charge and go in. If shots were/are fired, you literally ran to the sound. In the scenarios we trained in, the innocents were often injured before the bad guy was taken out. There was no dithering allowed. It was very dynamic and the debriefs were amazing – the stuff you thought you saw or totally missed when moving at life speed… We used simunitions/marking cartridges with pistols and rifles. So based on my training, if I was on duty in Orlando and showed up before the reported 100 LE by 2:09 am, (shooting started at 2:02) I would have been expected to immediately gather my shooters and go in, fast and hard. Now, maybe the training has changed in 3 years, but also based on my training with SWAT, once they arrive, they set up a Command Post, evaluate, plan, re-evaluate, plan and if a Captain or Chief is on the way, re-evaluate and wait. AKA a choke point.
While we MAY get the whole story eventually I wouldn’t hold my breathe. Information on the JFK shooting is still not available. Basically, everyone involved has to be dead before all the documents are released.

I too had the opportunity to do active shooter training with various law enforcement agencies while working as a firearms instructor at Front Sight and they went exactly as you described. My observations on that point did not pass muster with my Dad and went back earlier today to expound on that point and include the fact that we don’t know why they go in right away and it very well could be that they did want to go but were directed to wait from on high. The Orlando SWAT guys could have been like their SF counterparts during the Benghazi attack – pleading to be sent into the fray but told to stand down.

        • Mr. Jameson

Unfortunately this has all the markings of another Sandy Hook fake shooting. So sad the govt does this to try and get us to willingly relinquish our guns. They know we won’t let them just come and take them. Not happening.

      • babatim

Hezbollah and the Al Nusrah front are fighting each other and both are fighting Daesh and the fact that our latest Ice Hole didn’t understand the nuances of these organizations is not relevant from my point of view. Not one of the so called ‘lone wolves’ has (to the best of my knowledge) been that familiar with or conversant in the Koran. So what?

It is also true that the vast majority of Muslims in this country are not radical Jihadist but what about their unwillingness to report extremist in their mosques? How long before Dearborn becomes a no go neighborhood for the police like the ones outside Paris or East London or Malmo Sweden? That’s 4th generation right there bro and we are what…..10 years out at the rate we are going?

I’m 62 & can’t wait to read/learn more. I will be sending this to my 3 married children. Thank you VERY MUCH for your service!

    • Libby

Thanks! Can’t wait for the next installment.

    • I have had the reaction to Orlando that we need to form Sheepdog clubs and train people how to deal with active shooter threats. Fortunately the US has the Second Amendment and and it is time to become a well regulated militia, not an ad hoc militia. There is nothing in the Amendment that says that regulation has to be either private of public. The training you refer to seems to me the basis on which to build such private associations. Such a movement will be charged vigilantism, and it must work hard to avoid even the appearance of that kind of attitude.

Your article gives flesh an bones to that idea because, unlike me, you have combat experience. I’m an old guy who grew up in New Hampshire on a farm and learned to use guns for target shooting and hunting, but I have absolutely no military or police training. Still I know what to do if I find myself in such a situation which is nearly moot because I happen to live in ‘gun free’ Australia. But your article really convinced me that I was thinking along the right lines because you (and Michael Yon) have been in combat.

I would add that behind the idea of 4th generation warfare is something that the public does not understand. Gun violence has turned into an anytime anyplace threat and an ad hoc unarmed or poorly armed and prepared militia is not adequate to meet it. It is one of the negatives of globalization. The only gun free zone is one screened by a metal detector. That would have worked at Pulse nightclub and it did work at the Paris soccer stadium where good security turned the jihadis back in the recent attack – perhaps only because the president of France was in attendance. Metal detectors, armed sheepdogs, good security eyes trained in de Becker’s methods screening the crowd. Yes, hard eyed young men watching the crowd like hawks, but also women – young and old – trolling the waters with their particular awareness of full alert too.

GOD’S law states “thou shalt not MURDER”, that’s way different from thou shalt not kill! Christians don’t lye in wait to off someone, but if the occasion arises, and in this hateful climate we are in, it will be likely because the sand fleas are being spread everywhere by the thousands! And they don’t care what your social or economic status is, the want to conquer – period! I named it Ottoman 2.0 several years ago, but they are getting alot of help and funding from DC and others. Getting back to the original point, if someone is in trouble, it’s our duty as believers to help, not only for our own families, but anyone in trouble! My motto: RESIST, OR CEASE TO EXIST!

    • Taxdn2poverty

Our military has not won a war in my lifetime. Yet, when they retire with big fat retirement checks and loaded with benefits, they write books as to how you and I should defend ourselves. Does anyone but me see a problem here? In case any of you don’t know how to kill another human being, you do it by making the other person’s heart stop beating. You do it without conversation, without fanfare before or after, and you do it very quickly without being noticed if at all possible. If you don’t have the ability to do the above then it will be your heart that stops beating. ’nuff said.

      • There is a big difference in winning a war and having the politically correct tie your hands, take your weapons and surround with no fire zones. Killing bad guys and survival in these instances is winning.

Cannot disagree with a word written here!

I am British Army trained way back when – and a registered and licenced gun-owner in one of the most crime-ridden lands on earth. I have used my gun in earnest 4 times in 40 years – mere brandishing quite sufficient to see off the scum-criminals but one time had to fire a warning shot which did the trick. Personally I prefer the warning shot to be discharged after the kill-shot bu our laws here are very much anti-gun and one would have to justify every action with a gun where your attacker is injured or killed – in court! Truly stupid, truly evil.

We here are very much aware that whilst we have had no such attacks as you have had in the US, they are very likely on their way. The US and British embassies here have issued such warnings very recently.

As a result I now carry all the time 1 up + 17 in the mag. I fervently hope the day never comes – but if it does I am prepared and will act for sure.

      • babatim

While in Afghanistan I presented my weapon several times hoping to deescalate a potential serious problem at checkpoints being manned by men of unknown allegiance and fired a warning shot once too. Using a pistol that way was contrary to everything I have been taught regrading the proper use of a weapon but it worked. Therein lies the danger of giving to much specific advice because the key in potential lethal encounters is to think first and deescalate if possible. What I hope to do in the next post is to stress the mindset and not a set of procedures that may or may not be relevant if the fickle finger of fate points to you.

Nehemiah 4:14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the LORD, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Psalm 144:1-2 Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: 2 My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.
Proverbs 25:26 A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.
Psalm 59:1 Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
Psalm 82:3 Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.
Hebrews 11:32-34 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gideon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Matthew 12:11-12 And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out? 12 How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Luke 22:36-38 Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one. 37 For I say to you that this which is written must still be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors.’[a] For the things concerning Me have an end.” 38 So they said, “Lord, look, here are two swords. And He said to them, “It is enough.”
Genesis 9:6 “Whoever shed’s a man’s blood, by man his blood shall be shed; For in the image of God He made man.”

Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name.

Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.”

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Psalm 94:19-21 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul. 20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law? 21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. Notes: it is clear that the Psalmist saw that iniquity was worked through those who make the laws and by the laws of his time. When they (laws) contradict with that which God has established they are null and void, we should pray against and resist such laws and seek to correct them if at all possible to the appropriate degree. We should always seek peaceful solutions (Romans 12:18) whenever possible, but it is abundantly clear that peaceful solutions are not always possible nor are there always peaceful solutions to such problems. Discernment is crucial to determine the appropriate response, both natural intellectual discernment and Holy Spirit filled discernment. For we were not given a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind!

Why is God the Father sovereign? Because he has the biggest boom stick. Wicked and violent men respect only one thing, power and the willingness to use it. The Lord is feared by Satan not because of his love, mercy and grace (the lamb), but because of his power, justice, wrath and anger (the Lion). Jesus is both the Lion and the Lamb, having the perfect balance of both characteristics in absolute harmony.

Jesus came to this earth as the Lamb for our sake, be brought to all humanity his mercy, love and grace. He was killed for our sake and he let it happen when he could have wiped out every kingdom with just one command. When he returns, he returns as the Lion (see aka ALL of the book of Revelation).

Revelation 1:12-17 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle. 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.b16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

People have a habit of squeezing what meaning they may from anything to justify their unfounded ideological beliefs that justify their personal choices on issues which they find difficult to deal with. State-ism, spiritual escapism or even physical escapism.

I have no other valid explanation for the insanity of so many who claim to “follow” Jesus than what was given to us by the great “I am that I am” in the following passages:

2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Matthew 10:37-39 He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

      1 Timothy 4 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
      2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

I believe something far more sinister than a mass shooting occurred in Orlando; hear me out but please do your own research.

Where’s the evidence that a mass shooting actually occurred in Orlando? Did you see any blood? Did you see any bodies? How about Ambulances; did you see any of those? I believe the Orlando Pulse was nothing more than an active shooter drill much like Sandy Hook. Contrary to what we’ve been told happened, I believe the truth is far more nefarious. Marine Corp Officer Professor Jim Fetzer exposed Sandy Hook as a complete fabrication and published a book about it entitled No One Died At Sandy Hook. Crisis actors were used to give the illusion of grieving parents and the main stream media sock puppets did their job in helping to lend credibility by conducting fake interviews. If you look at and listen to some of the supposed witnesses involved with Orlando you quickly reach the same conclusion; that nothing rings true with their emotion and their statements. Just for one example: take the guy walking around in the flag shirt with the stupid looking hat they called Chris Hansen. Did you see any blood on him? I didn’t. Here’s what he claims happened:

“There’s blood splattering. I didn’t know if it was mine or somebody else’s But when I got out I realized it wasn’t mine but somebody else’s. The person I was with was shot in the back, ah, and I had to take my bandana off and tie it up and put it in in the bullet hole that was in his back So that He wasn’t bleeding so so bad his pant leg was red and still it was so, so soaked. My hand was just covered…” quote from the guy dressed in a flag shirt wearing a hat – crisis actor Chris Hansen

Using all of their choice buzz words, the narrative main-stream media is hoping will take root, goes something like this: You’ve got a “lone wolf, home grown, mentally unstable, mentally ill, abusive, legal U.S. Citizen obtaining weapons despite passing the background check so now we need greater scrutiny in determining eligibility of gun ownership.

Even though I believe Orlando to be nothing more than propaganda designed to push mental health issues on to the gun control debate, I also believe there’s coming a time when they will release the Kraken so-to-speak and unleash this Islamic invasion with full force.

Having recently finished some 41 years in uniform (3 years active/11 reserve in the Army and a total of 36 years as a local level police officer) the hardest thing I had to do was psychologically transition from a “helper” to a potential killer. Even after going through periods of relative violence and use of force, my mind would slip back into the “all is well” mode while working. It was not until after 9-11 that I truly developed the mindset that I needed to effectively function because I finally internalized the truth that there were religiously-motivated people who believed it was okay to murder innocents. And I would not have developed that mindset without revision of my Christian thinking and realize that inaction in response to evil was wrong. And my department offered some great tactical training for its line officers and detectives to get them up to speed, including some of the earliest active shooter training just after Columbine High School. Now retired, I carry a concealed handgun almost everywhere (LEOSA)and keep the mindset developed after 9-11.

Such a great read, thank you. I worry every day for America, we are on our deathbed, and it is so heart wrenching to see such a great nation go down from the inside out, On Purpose! I hope there are enough of us left to rally, fight the good fight, and win. It is stunning how the Land of the Free, and the Home of the Brave has allowed this to happen.

I read Grossman’s and de Becker’s books long ago and loved them, I need to pull them off the shelf and go for round two. Several months ago I took a course on “active shooter” and home invasion. I learned that I am capable of shooting back, and hitting the mark. Made me feel better and gave me some serious confidence.

Love the cartoons, they are spot on!

      Again, thank you.

The purpose of writing this post was to explain we don’t need to sacrifice more liberty for the allusion of enhanced security because we’re Americans. This is not Sparta and I do not believe that the millions of gun owners in America will train to the level of proficiency found in dedicated tactical teams. But they don’t need to…what they need to do is fight back. We are not a country founded by fearful men and we have never turned to the State for protection from violent predators in our midst.

Funny Paul Revere poster. Had me chuckling. Idiot leftist we have.

Anyway, police are not for personal protection. You have your own responsibility to protect and police yourself. Police are only for investigating a crime.

We lost that when we lost Christianity and its “self-control” as DP aptly put it.

You want your guns “uninfringed”? Return to your Christianity. And your EVIL and VILE leaders will FLEE FROM YOU!

hit it out of the park babatim! welcome back! Good to see you back in the fight!

    • I think your statistics are a little off. You may be fighting Muslims every day, (and making friends with them every day as well- hard to tell how from this article), but the rest of us are living in what passes for a civilian world. Islamist attacks in the US are *rare*, not common. “They” are not coming, not taking away our liberty, not running the government, not threatening apple pie etc. etc., etc. Muslims in America are notoriously peaceful, not giving any support to the 9/11 folks, or other extremists. The Orlando guy was a strictly one-nut show. It is our friends the Saudis who are spreading the hate like donuts. And Obama’s policies there have been right on target, cutting some distance, gradually, with the Saudis, and leaving them poorer.

Anyhow, your peremptory comment about “nothing to do with guns” comes a little too quick. You say even the gun sales person thought this guy was nuts. Then how in the name of everything good did this guy wind up with a semiautomatic weapon? I would rather not have gun nuts patrolling my grocery store, hopping themselves up on your steroids of hate, sheepdog-ism, and Rambo-ism. No, thank you kindly. My grocery store is a peaceful place and would be even more peaceful if military weapons were by law comprehensively left with trained military and police, who I hire and oversee through my representatives.

      • Ah, there’s Burk again, arguing for a monopoly of force for the elitists, just like he always has. Because all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than other animals. Right, Burk?

I’ve advocated the same thing Burk has, i.e., that Burk be disarmed and trust the (ahem) “authorities” for his health and safety if that’s what he wants. Of course, Burk cannot force this upon me, because I’m armed. Understand?

Just want to THANK YOU for BOTH your Service before, AND for your exemplary service now!

Most of what you’ve stated IS part of my “in brain training Archives”; but, what wasn’t, IS NOW! AND, WELL WORTH THE TIME!

“OODA LOOP” has been in my training since 1999; and Gavin DeBecker’s “FEAR LESS!” has had a VERY profoundly positive effect on my Psyche. — btw, I’ve nearly perfected my “OODA LOOP” habit, to the point my wife doesn’t even notice it anymore, BUT! She’s beginning to establish it in HER meandering around town.

This Article, (with the URL’s of your hyper text), is going out to my ENTIRE list…which MEANS, ALL over the Country!

We ALL NEED to be CONSTANTLY REMINDED (kicked in the butt), from time to time, to keep in our “SHEEPDOG mindset”! THANKS again!

    • BTRUTH

Great article thank you. I just bought the book “the gift of fear”, per your advice. You can never be too prepared! God bless & Godspeed to you & yours! Shalom

      Dear BURK;

I was born in June, 1945…so, now I’m now 71 yrs. old.

In these 71 yrs. I’ve been privileged to LIVE, [NOT visit], throughout this Country, as well as LIVE, out of the Country, [12 yrs.], throughout S. AM.. & 2 yrs. in Europe.

So, I’ve gotten a bit of a “feel” for different Nation’s, peoples, and cultures. And, I’ve LOVED the diversity, and change that they’ve presented me with.

They’ve ALSO taught me some SERIOUSLY important lessons: #1] “When in Rome…etc.”; & #2] Study to show myself approved; a workman who need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the WORD OF TRUTH”. 3] “Know Thy Enemy”, {Learned this from cultures AND “paying attention”, AND Sun Tzu}.

      In the present, I’ve been confronted with the Muslim Community. Both PERSONALLY, (through conversations), through Media presentations of ALL sorts, AND, through my own personal STUDY of their “Belief Systems”. {Qu’ran; Hadiths; & Surrahs};

I have a suspicion that Tim has done the same…and I KNOW that he’s LIVED within Muslim realities for quite a lifetime of experience.

That being said, I derive from his above Article an anticipation of a NEEDED “MIND SET” among his fellow Citizens, that he does not see sufficiently developing.

To be precise: Yours is the prevalent mindset that whistles down the street, (appreciating that the C’n Chief HAS EVERYTHING well developed, — “Obama’s policies have been right on target, cutting some distance, with the Saudis, leaving them poorer”); TOTALLY OBLIVIOUS to the HUGE reality that looms throughout out History, (and WHY “..the shores of Tripoli…” are part of the Marine Corp Anthem).

You MIGHT not be aware that Thomas Jefferson, (originally championed Muslim immigration, [1776+-]…UNTIL he experienced Muslim “High Seas” international Naval policies, until he had a chat with the Muslim Ambassador to England, AND, bought & STUDIED the Qu’ran). {btw,- a slight aside: that’s the Qu’ran that Pres. elect Obama swore his oath upon}.

BUT! (after said STUDY, {NOT simply breezing thru, quickly reading}), Pres. Jefferson mandated that MUSLIM IMMIGRATION be HALTED and never opened to them again…as did “Teddy” Roosevelt…Another reason WHY the Marine Corp anthem holds the description “…on the shores of Tripoli…”.

I’m fairly certain Tim could have clued you in on all this, but that’s REALLY not his M.O.S. He’s a Teacher, trainer, organizer, and ACTION man…not a debater.

Well, all that said, what I’m getting at Burk is that your mindset is the VERY CORE of Tim’s concerns. You CLEARLY & THOROUGHLY underestimate the ACTUAL threat; (tho you’re DEAD ON concerning the Saudi “Wahhabi hand” behind the $$$ & DOCTRINAIRE — which is ONLY 1 of half a dozen or more).

BUT Burk, it was NOT the Saudis who ordered the training of the ICEHOLDS Cadre! Nor was it the Saudis who brought about the “clash between SU 37 Fighter bombers & American fighters, just the other day. Nor, was it the Saudis who swore in THEIR memoirs: “If it comes to it, I’m on the side of the Muslims”, [my paraphrase, because I’ve not got the Memoir close at hand]…

From what you’ve said Burk, I derive a DEFINITE NEED for Tim’s input, and counsel, and, from ALL that I’ve learned & experienced, I’d say it MIGHT be a bit tardy…BUT! It’s RIGHT ON! And DESPERATELY NEEDED.

A bit of History on American relations with the Muslim World in the 1800’s:
While he’s an Athiest, he does a fine job on the History points:

I GENUINELY hope these and more are helpful Burk.

Mark Steyn has spoke recently that the West is partying like it is the end of the world – In flyover county, that is not as true, but we Americans, in general, have had it so good that young people, in particular, think things will go forward like an ongoing party. My conservative friends are much older and are concerned about terrorism and don’t see government being able to protect us, yet it tries to disarm us. The FBI, as the details coming out show, missed more red flags than thought possible about the Orlando killer and the police seemed more concerned about hostage negotiating than taking out the killer as was done in Germany at the movie theater yesterday.
Not being in at the Pulse during the attack, it is hard to determine if the police reacted “properly” considering the threats of bombs the killer communicated. The Israeli experiences with bombs awaiting the first responders might have been a concern of the police leadership; it would have been for me.
In a way I wish I had been in the Pulse during the attack, since those in the Pulse seemed unable to confront the killer nor know how to attempt to escape his wrath. Having been there done that in different type situations, I’m sure as one could be, I would have died trying to stop the slaughter; it helps that I am always a “what if” type of guy and 71 years old with my best years behind me.
What I truly don’t understand are the people who believe that the Pulse and other such incidents are black flag operations by our government. My logic is this; such operations would require so many people being involved that such operations could not be kept quiet/secret in our culture. Are the people talking about black flag ops using this to hide from the possibility of having to face the possibility of foreign and domestic terrorism?

      Hi Baba T.

      Excellent article.
My only criticism of your article is that of referring to Gavin de Becker’s
book “The Gift of Fear” as an ‘essential book’. I don’t at all share this assessment of de Becker’s work as Kenneth Royce qualitatively demonstrated that de Becker is a gunphobe who presents his elitist views via ‘The Gift of Fear’.

This assessment is covered by Royce in detail on pp. 4/13-4/21 of his book, “Boston’s Gun Bible”.

To say the least I certainly WON’T be recommending Gavin de Becker or his book as a training aid or reference in any way, shape or form for anyone that is serious about taking a proactive stance for their own self-defense and safety!

I wouldn’t even spend .50 for his book at a used book sale!

      Yours In Liberty!

It’s hard to square De Beckers anti gun stance with the quality of and original thinking in The Gift of Fear. I asked Dave Grossman about it once and he just shrugged and said “Gavin is Gavin and has his own views on guns” and left it at that. I know of no stronger advocate for 2nd Amendment preservation then Dave Grossman and that’s the beauty of being on our side of the debate. We can disagree over fundamental issues without making it personal.

In non governmental buildings..I carry BUT..I dont frequent locations which are at high risk for violence. Bars catering to the under 40ish crowd would be on that list but I avoid all bars generally. Signs that proclaim no firearms I ignore..always.
